FosterGuyMaxwell Guy Maxwell Foster Guy Maxwell Foster, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, September 14, 2007 at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. He was born July 29, 1932 in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Samuel Guy and Beatrice M. Zickefoose Foster. On May 22, 1955 he married Yvonne Rastle who survives. Also surviving are three sons, David Wayne Foster and wife Marsha of Magnolia, TX, Stuart Alan Foster and wife Jo Ann of Bowling Green, KY and Gary Maxwell Foster and wife Susan of the Meadland Community in Taylor County, WV; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Foster of TX and Caley Foster of KY; four grandsons, Samuel Foster of TX, Gregory Foster of KY and Nathan and Zachary Foster of WV; a sister, Mary Lee Settle and husband Charles of Capron, VA; a niece, Terri Leigh Williams of Capron; a great niece and a great nephew. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Chuckie Settle. Mr. Foster was valedictorian of his 1950 graduating class at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and received a BA from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Masters in Education from West Virginia University. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and taught in Webster County and St. Albans in WV before moving to Washington Court House in OH where he taught and became a school administrator. In 1983 he retired as Superintendent of Miami Trace Local School District in OH and returned to WV where he worked as Manager of Fed One Savings and Loan and as an insurance Agent for Farmers Mutual Fire Association of West Virginia. While in OH he was a member of Grace UMC, Washington C H Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Brd. of Dir. for Community Education and Recreation Assoc., chairperson for Brd. of Dir. For Regional Special Education Resource Center, OH County Superintendents’ Assoc., Buckeye Assoc. of School Administrators, State Advisory Committee for Vocational Agriculture, Honorary Member of Ohio Future Farmers’ Assoc. and various teacher and principal associations. He was also a member of First UMC in Buckhannon, United Methodist Men and the Wesley Class where he was very active. Friends will be received Monday, September 17, 2007 from 4 to 9 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 10 AM at First United Methodist Church where he will lie in state from 9 to 10 AM with Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes and Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery in Hemlock. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Mr. Foster.
