“Junior” Reese Thomas Evans
“Junior” Reese Thomas Evans, age 81, of Hodgesville, WV passed away at his home on November 14, 2008. He was born September 29, 1927, a son of the late Rhys Thomas and Elva Sines Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Ruby Marple Evans on August 4, 2003. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Delana Harris Evans and three sisters, Jean Hardy, Sarah Campbell and Mable Gillespie. He is survived by one son, Gary W. Evans and wife Inis Simons Evans of Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Delana “Dee” Evans Ryan and husband Bobby of Hodgesville and Jeromy W. Evans and wife Jamie Phillips Evans of Heavner Grove; four great grandchildren, Cody and Cade Garrett and Kaitlyn and Emily Evans; two step great granchildren, Samuel Ryan and Katlyn Ryan both of Morgantown, WV; one sister, Mildred Ann Carpenter of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Evans was a Christian and attended Good Hope Tabernacle Church. He was one of the owners/bosses of Dexcar Queen Coal Company, Hodgesville Trucking Company and Three Musketeers, Inc. He had the proud heritage of coming from a coal mining family. He owned several rental houses and apartments in the Buckhannon Area. He was blessed to always remain a hard worker, even after retirement. His love of family and numerous friends was always found in his light hearted, generous, personality. Friends will be received Monday, November 17, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
