Eddie Adkins Visitation Monday, June 23, 2014 6-8 PM Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home Funeral Service Tuesday, June 24, 2014 1 PM Horizons Church Burial Heavner Cemetery Eddie Dean Adkins Eddie Dean Adkins, age 52, of Buckhannon, WV passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 20th, 2014. He was born on January 25, 1962, the son of the late Bonnie and Ross Adkins of Montgomery, WV. He is survived by his sisters, Sherry Hensley and Brenda Toney, both of Montgomery and Sheila Logan of Florida; two brothers, Alan Hensley of Tennessee and Gary Adkins of Clendenin, WV. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Keel and brothers, Richard and Pat Adkins. Also surviving is his loving life partner of 22 years, Samuel L. Baxa of Buckhannon. Eddie spent his early years in Montgomery and graduated from Valley High School. After graduation Eddie joined the staff at Arthur B. Hodges, a nursing care facility. In 1993, he became manager of the Baxa Motel and rental properties in Buckhannon. He is best remembered for his quick smile, friendly welcome and exemplary service to Baxa guests over the following 21 years. Eddie loved meeting people from all the states and many foreign countries. He made each one feel at home and always welcomed them back to the Baxa and to our community. He and Sam spent many hours in their favorite pastime, travelling the country particularly on the East Coast and at their vacation home in West Palm Beach, Florida. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. Friends will be received Monday, June 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Tuesday at the Horizons Church in Buckhannon with Pastor David Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in the Heavener Cemetery in Buckhannon.
