Obituary of Betty Lou Osburn

Betty Lou Osburn, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, September 18, 2017 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born September 27, 1931 in Wendell, WV, a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Dean Glass. On August 31, 1953 she married Richard Osburn who preceded her in death on January 2, 2003. She is survived by one son, Steve Osburn and wife Ronda of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Stephanie Hull and husband Steve of Lewis County, WV, Whitney Chapman of Buckhannon and Miranda Osburn; three great-granddaughters, Kasey Davis and Melody Hull both of Lewis County and Lakelyn Chapman of Buckhannon and three great-grandsons, Danner and Stevie Groves both of Lewis County and Joseph Shipman. Mrs. Osburn worked at the Garden Fresh Market in Tennerton, as cook at Intermediate School. Retired from Buckhannon Foodland. Betty was a member of the Tallmansville Baptist Church, the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and the homemakers club. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and her pies were a hit with anyone who ever ate one. She was a master at making Salt Rising Bread and pepperoni rolls. Whenever there was a fundraiser for a worth while cause Betty was there to help. Thank you to the caring staff of Serenity Nursing Home and thanks to my angel Vonnie Hager. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Lewis and the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Special Olympics c/o of Alisa Lively Treasurer 85 Camden Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
