Obituary of ​Hugh Page McGee

Hugh Page “Barney” McGee, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at St. Joseph’s NCF in Buckhannon. He was born September 13, 1942 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Leslie F. and Eunice Hall McGee. On November 17, 1979 he married Ruth Nicholson who survives. Also surviving are one son, Hugh McGee, Jr. and wife SarahJean of Buckhannon; one sister, Mildred “Millie” McGee Beer of Buckhannon; three sisters in law, Betty McGee of Pittsburgh, PA, Rosalie Phillips of Sewickley, PA and Martha Nicholson of Canal Fulton, OH; one aunt, Maxine Hall of Omaha, NE; his beloved dog, Biscuit “P Hounddog” and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lowell F. McGee and three brothers in law, Howard E. Phillips, Allen R. Beer and Robert G. Nicholson. Mr. McGee was a Delivery Truck Driver for A.G. Shannon’s Hardware of Buckhannon. After 21 years of service he retired as a custodian at Buckhannon Upshur Middle School. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Hall, WV since July 17, 1955 when he was Baptized, then attended the North Buckhannon United Methodist Church and in later years the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Cemetery in Hall, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
