Obituary of Delphia Hilton Mason

untitled3 Delphia Hilton Tenney Mason Delphia Hilton Tenney Mason, age 100, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Care Facility in Buckhannon. She was born June 19, 1912 in Tallmansville, WV a daughter of the late Samuel Bethuel Tenney and Nora Ann Butcher Tenney Sayre. On August 15, 1936 she married Rev. Lemuel Reynolds Mason, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 5, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Flora Riggs and Lelia Ours; one brother, Rev. Lloyd Tenney; two half-sisters Lula Reed and Zona Carter. Surviving are one son, John A. Mason and wife Maycle of Hurricane, WV; two daughters, Jan Holtsclaw and husband Rev. Thomas Holtsclaw of Roxboro, NC and Joy Whitlock and husband Larry of Martinsville, VA; two granddaughters, Andrea Malpass of Goldsboro, NC and Mary Beth Stewart of Hurricane; six grandsons, Allen Mason of Lansdale, PA, Timothy Holtsclaw of Fayetteville, NC, James Whitlock of Wytheville, VA, Luke Whitlock of TN, Jason Holtsclaw of Ashville, NC and Joshua Whitlock of Johnson City, TN and thirteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Mason was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. While helping her husband serve in ministry, they lived in eleven different places in three states. Friends will be received Friday, December 21, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville. The family of Hilton would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the St. Joseph’s NCF for the tender loving care they provided for nearly four years.
