Betty Jane Hinkle, age 82, of French Creek, WV, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her daughter’s home in French Creek. She was born, September 19, 1943, in Webster Springs, WV, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene Rollins Cutlip. She is survived by three children, Roderick Hinkle and wife Barb of Buckhannon, Debra Hinkle of French Creek, and Mark Smallwood of Kingwood, WV; three grandchildren, Broderick James Hinkle and companion Alexandria Herron, Ashley Nichole Fulton, and Sawyer Smallwood and wife Sherry all of Buckhannon and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Zane Hinkle, Jr. and grandson, Caleb Fulton. Mrs. Hinkle was a business owner and a Methodist by faith. Alongside her husband, Betty owned the Brushy Fork Mart for 31 years and Hinkle’s Masonry for 35 years. In addition to her work, she was very active in her community and took pride in volunteering for various organizations including, but not limited to CEO’s, EMT, the Professional Women’s Organization, and the Strawberry Festival. In honoring Mrs. Hinkle’s wishes, she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
