Wayne M. Goodwin, 85, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2026, surrounded by family. Wayne was born on July 10, 1940, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, to Helen Goodwin Ratliff Jones. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, William Wilber Goodwin and Martha Miller Goodwin, who played a significant role in shaping the man he became. On September 29, 1962, Wayne married the love of his life, Betty Mae Baughman Goodwin. Together they built a strong and loving family. They were blessed with five children: Rickie Goodwin (Lavonnia Simons), Helen Demastes (Richard), John Goodwin, and Kimberly Goodwin Ford (Jerry Ford). They also had a son, Wilbert David Goodwin, who passed away just a few hours after his birth. Wayne and Betty also opened their home and hearts as foster parents for many years. Their compassion led them to obtain legal guardianship of three of their cherished stewards: Tiffany Matthew, Ellie Kinney, and Laura Palmer. Their commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on many lives. Wayne was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy and happiness. Wayne dedicated many years of his life to working in the oil fields as a truck driver for both Sam Jack and Union Drilling. He was known for his hard work, reliability, and dedication to providing for his family. Above all, Wayne will be remembered as a selfless and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness, generosity, and strong sense of family will leave a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank WVU Medicine Hospice for the care and support provided to Wayne and his family.
