Jackson “Jack” Lee Herron, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on February 14, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born September 7, 1941, in Cleveland, WV, a son of the late Keith Wilson Williams and Alma Virginia Herron. Jackson is survived by his loving wife, Frances Williams Herron along with his four children, Heide Herron (Christopher) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Keith Herron of Buckhannon, Rhonda Culver (Kenny) of Elkins, WV and Christopher Cogar (Amy) of Kanawha Head, WV; together they have 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren with two on the way and several other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and James Herron and several other family members. Jackson was a Vietnam Veteran who served 23 years in the military. He was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #36 in French Creek, WV. Jackson was very dedicated to fishing and hunting. He loved being out on Stonecoal Lake where he would spend most of his days from daylight until dark. Jackson never missed a chance to hunt for Morel mushrooms. Jackson received excellent care from the amazing hospice staff and the VA staff, along with his loving wife, Frances Williams Herron, granddaughter, Starlena Culver and many other family member who were by his bedside to help with their loving & caring support. Friends will be received Friday, February 20, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
