Donna Marie Hyre, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born, April 13, 1957, in Cullman, AL, a daughter of the late Betty Duke McClendon. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Hyre, whom she was married to for over 40 years; one son, Adam Hyre; one granddaughter, Breana; one brother, James McClendon and two sisters, Deana and Dana McClendon. She is survived by two daughters, April Mabry and husband Dennis of French Creek, WV and Tammi Hyre of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Alicia, Winter, Kayla, and Tia and husband Jeremiah; three grandsons, Landon and wife Cadence, Christian and Kaleb; several greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Deborah Penny and husband Earl and Danisa Brown and husband Joey; four brothers, Gary McClendon, Darrell McClendon and wife Rebecca, Billy McClendon, and Anthony McClendon and wife Veronica; several nieces and nephews and her friend, Andreas aka Dark Depravity from Norway. Mrs. Hyre was a Christian by faith and a homemaker. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to play games, especially Final Fantasy 14. Donna enjoyed sitting under a tin roof so she could listen to the rain and Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved to cook (with Hellman’s Mayonnaise being her favorite condiment), read books, and decorate with a variety of dragons, gnomes, butterflies, family photos, cute glass trinkets, and of course anything that was gifted to her. In honoring Mrs. Hyre’s wishes, she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
