Arnold Wesley Sayre, age 91, of Buckhannon, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Stonehaven Home in Belington, WV. He was born January 18, 1934, in the Etna Community of Upshur County, WV,  a son of the late Stacy W. and Georgia A. Sayre. He is survived by his wife, Doris Armstrong Sayre, whom he married on December 19, 1970, and his brother Ralph H. Sayre of Buckhannon. Arnold was a 1953 graduate of Marlinton High School and attended West Virginia University and West Virginia Wesleyan College. He was a former member of the Huntersville Methodist Church. Arnold was an electronics technician and during his lifetime was employed by Shaffer Appliance Inc., WJPB-TV, and West Virginia Wesleyan College. He retired from WVWC after over 35 years of service. He held a First-Class Radiotelephone (commercial) License and an Extra Class Amateur Radio License, he was a ham/amateur radio operator with the call sign W8WVM and was a life member of The Quarter Century Wireless Association. He loved building and demonstrating mechanical and scientific devices. He built and successfully flew a gyro-glider and reflected radio signals off the moon. He was cited as an A-1 amateur radio operator and made contact with other amateur radio operators in 346 countries. In honoring Mr. Sayre’s request, there will be no service, and the body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV.
