Karin L. Combs, 80, passed away peacefully on a beautiful sunny day in Buckhannon on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was born July 24, 1945, in Yonkers, New York. She graduated from Milford High School in 1963. Karin put roots down in West Virginia for nearly 50 years. As one who enjoyed the bountiful landscapes and natural wonders of this area, Karin made time for adventures including riding her motorcycle, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and visiting many state parks. Her love of “critters” was evident as she homed several cats and dogs through the years and made provisions for birds around her home. By profession, Ms. Combs retired with over 32 years service with St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Radiographer, Sonographer, and was department manager overseeing much growth and advancement in imaging technology and patient care services. Karin started her career in radiology at Fox Hospital, NY. Karin received her education from Hartwick College, Oneonta State, State University of New York Radiologic School and Aurelia Osbourne Memorial Hospital in New York. It is noted that Karin was well revered in her field from fellow radiographers across the state for her work of excellence and medical knowledge. Karin was always intrigued by medical research and was a test participant for the Jonas Salk’s Polio Vaccination. Karin was preceded in death by her parents Robert Henry Combs and Agnes Helen Matz Combs. She was the eldest of three siblings, Robert Frederick Combs and Linda Robin Hall who preceded her in death. Surviving are her brother-in-law, Ronald Hall from Walton, New York and close friends, Susan and Allison Moyer from Philippi; Paul Scott from Piney Point, Maryland; and many devoted friends and neighbors. Karin’s wishes to be cremated will be honored and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date. Special thanks to Poling-St. Clair for being in charge of Karin’s arrangements.
