Samie Ray Biller, born January 26, 1942, a son of the late Golden and Daisy Biller in Cumberland, MD passed away March 9, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV after a sudden illness. He is survived by his brother, Lee Roy Biller of Cumberland; wife of 60 years, Mary Ellen Aldridge Biller of Buckhannon; sons, Rodney of Buckhannon and Mark of French Creek, WV; daughter, Sharon (John) Wilson of Tyro, NC; granddaughter, Haley (Scott) Heater of Weston, WV; grandson, Shawn Wilson of Tyro; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, John Aldridge of Etters, PA and sister-in-law, Nancy (Tom) Dunn of Gulf Breeze, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine Knight, Yvonne Biller and Thelma Cage. Sam graduated in 1961 from Allegany High School in Cumberland where he excelled in football and track. He graduated from Shepherd College (University) in 1968 where he played football and later came back to coach as a defensive coordinator with Walter Barr. He also coached track and football at Winchester, VA, St. Mary’s, MD, Grafton, WV, and Buckhannon. He was also a member of the Army National Guard for several years. He retired from Upshur County Board of Education early due to health reasons. He was a member of New Community Church. He was a lay speaker with the United Methodist Church in Upshur County, WV for many years and served at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Hemlock, WV. Sam’s request to be cremated has been honored and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Suggestions for memorial gifts include donations to Buckhannon Lions Club, a charity of your choice in his honor, or to the Shepherd University Athletic Fund.
