William Paul Stalnaker

William Paul Stalnaker, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 24, 2021, at his home. He was born July 28, 1939, in Coalton, WV, a son of the late Joseph Harry and Nellie Lamb Stalnaker. On July 1, 1959, he married Anna Ruth Phillips who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah Schrock and partner Chuck Kati, Lori Black and husband David and Mary DeRico and husband Mike all of Buckhannon; one son, James Stalnaker of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Angelica Black and Heather Wright and husband Mark all of Buckhannon and Tessa Gaughan and husband Steven of Sanford, NC; three grandsons, Michael Stalnaker and Latasha Friend of Ellamore, WV and Samuel Stalnaker and Devin Black both of Buckhannon and four great grandsons, twins Landon and Brody Wright of Buckhannon and Aiden and Grayson Gaughan both of Sanford. Mr. Stalnaker served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a press operator for Moore Business Forms and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Buckhannon. Mr. Stalnaker was a founding member of the Washington District Fire Company and a former member of the Coalton VFD. He was the President of the Stalnaker Family Association, a former auctioneer and the former owner and operator of Wild Bill’s Flea Market. He loved woodworking, rock collecting and jewelry making. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 5 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Buckhannon with Father Ed Tetteh as celebrant. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors. In honoring Mr. Stalnaker’s wishes, he will be cremated after the funeral service.
