Obituary of Sturl Robert Waybright, Jr.

Sturl Waybright, Jr., age 72, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday March 17, 2018, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born August 27, 1945, in Randolph County, WV, a son of the late Sturl Robert and Ruth L. Thompson Waybright. On December 24, 1971, he married Carol DeBarr who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Stacy Marteney and husband John of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Rachel, Samantha and Amanda Marteney all of Buckhannon; one brother, Carl Waybright and wife Sherry of Buckhannon; two sisters, Betty Phillips and husband Roger of Clarksburg and Helen Phillips and husband Larry of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Rick Day of Buckhannon. Mr. Waybright served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #3663. He was a member of the Kesling Mill Lions Club, the Moose Lodge #598 and was heavily involved with the Farmer’s Market in Buckhannon. Mr. Waybright was the past Union President at Corhart Refractories, he was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish, gardening and farming. He was on the 1963 BUHS State Championship Football Team and he enjoyed officiating football games. Friends will be received Monday, March 19, 2018 from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
