Obituary of Larry P. Mick

Larry P. Mick, age 66, of Bristol, VA passed away from complications related to pneumonia and lung cancer at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH on Friday, September 29, 2017. He had lived in Bristol, VA, but spent the last four months in Parkersburg, WV near his sister, Susie Casto, who coordinated his care at Ohio Valley Health Care while he recovered from numerous injuries sustained in a vehicular accident on May 29th. He was born April 25, 1951 in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Leonard Perry and Ella Elizabeth Sandy Mick. He is survived by one son, Justin Mick of Buckhannon; three sisters, Grace Douty and husband Dale of Salem, OH, Mary Lou Allman of Richwood, WV and Susie Cato and husband Pete of Washington, WV; one brother, Ralph Mick and wife Nancy of Mechanicsville, MD; several nieces and nephews and his “chemo buddy”, Debbie Mick of Rock Cave, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Jackson; one brother, Bud Mick; an infant sister, Isabelle Mick and an infant brother Roy Mick. For over 40 years Mr. Mick worked in the coal, oil and gas industries, most recently at EnerVest in Abingdon, VA. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. Mr. Mick took great pleasure in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles over the years, whether it was seeing the country he loved or for a special charity or the Toys for Tots Santa rides; watching the “good old” western movies; classic cars, especially his own Corvette; traveling, his many dogs over the years, hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. Friends will be received Friday, October 6, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM with a memorial service beginning at 11AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Heaston United Methodist Church cemetery in Crawford, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his beloved church, Trinity Baptist Church, 220 Old Airport Rd., Bristol, VA 24201 or the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle VA 22172 or online at www.toysfortots.org/donate.
