Obituary of James Henry Wilt

James "Jim/Buffalo" Wilt, age 80, of French Creek, WV died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon, WV. He was born August 8, 1937 in French Creek, a son of the late Marion Wheeler and Neva Ellen Haynes Wilt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother. Surviving are one son, Jamie Wilt and wife Jodee of French Creek; two daughters, Tina Coughlin and husband Denzil and Pamela Wilt all of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Sadie Wilt of French Creek; one grandson, Keith Wilt and Tiffany Claypool of Buckhannon; one great grandson, Eli James Wilt of Buckhannon; two brothers, Charles Wilt of Colorado Springs, CO and Ralph Wilt and wife Carolyn of Stanton, VA; one sister, Sue Nay and husband John of Shinnston, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wilt served in the U. S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961. He was a former volunteer in the Banks District Fire Department, drove for Carnation Milk in the 60s and 70s and worked in road construction from the 70s until the 90s. Jim worked for Gene Brake until the early 2000s. His yearly vacation with his children and grandchildren to Cass Scenic Railroad became a favorite tradition that he eagerly looked forward to. “Paw Paw” took great delight in his grandchildren. He spent many hours fishing with Keith and watching Sadie and Eli play together always put a smile on his face. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday, October 15, 2017 from noon to 2:00 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Helen R. Oates officiating. Burial will follow in the Kanawha Run Cemetery in Kanawha Run, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kanawha Run Cemetery fund c/o James Riffle, 9405 Rt. 20 S., French Creek, WV 26218.
