Obituary of Mary Virginia Howes

Mary Virginia “Granny” Howes, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, November 24, 2017 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born March 22, 1925 in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late Squire French and Nora Jane McVicker Loudin. She married Joseph Ray Howes who died on January 10, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Dunham and Thelma Loudin and four brothers, Colonel, Ira and Calvin Loudin and Nolda Murphy. She is survived by one daughter, Lois A. Howell and husband Kenneth of Buckhannon; two sons, Wayne Howes and wife Starlene of Clarksville, TN and Harold Howes and wife Imogene of Crawford, WV; nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Howes was a homemaker and Christian by faith. Friends will be received Friday, December 1, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 Noon at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
