Richard Harmon Smith, age 66 of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born November 1, 1951 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Elbert Austin and Virginia Gladys Moore Smith. He is survived by three sons, Austin Smith and fiancé Michaela Davis of Buckhannon, Ricky Smith and wife Jessica of CA and Aaron Smith of Harrisburg, PA; two daughters, Annie Smith of Harrisburg and Elizabeth Smith; special granddaughter, Delilah Smith of Buckhannon; special grandson Oliver Smith of Buckhannon; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Norman of Buckhannon; seven brothers, Paul Smith, James Smith and wife Gala, Tim Smith and wife Christine and Tom Smith and wife Brenda all of Buckhannon, Leonard Smith and wife Dorthy of OH, Roger Smith and wife Connie of Hunnington, WV and Daniel Smith and wife Michelle of TX and four sisters, Mary DeBarr and husband Don and Melinda Kay Sanders and husband Tim all of Buckhannon, Deloris Bedell and husband Denny of TX and Lisa Whaley and husband Brian of OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Marie Smith; two brothers, Kenneth and Davey Smith; one sister, Sue Norman and a sister-in-law, Elsie Smith. Mr. Smith was a U. S. Marine and a Christian by faith. He worked in oil & gas and was a jack of all trades that could do anything. Mr. Smith was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4357 and an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing and hunting. His pride and joy were his grandbabies and he loved to spend time with them, his children and his family. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Friends will be received Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home from 10 AM to 1 PM, the funeral hour with the Rev. Mark McMillion officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Cemetery in Teter, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
