Addison Boyles Carter, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home. He was born April 18, 1927, in Mt. Carmel, WV, a son of the late Addison Baker and Julia Ann Boyles Carter. On March 28, 1948, he married Evelyn Mae Nutt who preceded him in death on July 1, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Elizabeth Haddad. He is survived by three nephews. Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan. He was a mail handler for the USPO, a member of the Tallmansville Baptist Church and he was a Pythian. Mr. Carter was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Mr. Carter will Lie in State at the Tallmansville Baptist Church on Friday from 1 to 2 PM with the funeral starting at 2 PM and with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
